Lincoln Davis
Quit Smoking — check. Complete half-marathon — check. Marry the girl of my dreams and over-indulge for weeks — check. Can you now guess what was missing in the life of Lincoln Davis? The healthy lifestyle he left behind. That’s where the 12-week BodyBlitz Challenge comes in.

In April 2008, I gave up smoking and decided it was time to start a healthy lifestyle with my goal to be fit for my wedding in August ’08. My wife and I set our sights on the Gold Coast half-marathon. No mean feat for a reformed smoker of 12 years! I managed to complete the half-marathon and look good in my wedding suit. The wedding day was amazing. I married the girl of my dreams and we set off on a well deserved honeymoon to celebrate.

We ate, we drank and we got very merry for five awesome weeks traveling across Asia. I wouldn’t change a thing but it didn’t do any favours to my waistline! The honeymoon was over and my belly was large! That’s when I went searching for a fitness challenge to get into shape.
My favourite magazine, Iron Man, had an article on a previous contestant. This motivated me to start the 12-week BodyBlitz challenge.

I currently work as truck driver which has been a benefit but also very challenging. I’m up at 4.30am and unload truck load after truck load of heavy building supplies until late afternoon. I have tried to use this to my advantage in my fitness challenge. My biggest battle has been overcoming the physical fatigue from my day’s work and then dragging myself to the gym to lift yet more weight.

My ride through the challenge went smoothly till the five week mark. I was really starting to see good results but then a shoulder injury set me back. This kept me from lifting weights for about a week. My body really started to change in a dramatic way from about week eight and people started to notice and ask what I was doing.

This challenge has changed my whole outlook on life. I completed this 12 week challenge over the Christmas festive season and over my 30th birthday. I know now that I can still have a good time without over-indulging. Training and healthy eating are now part of my every day life.

My new-found self belief in how I look and feel has given me the confidence to return to a career in sales. It has helped me get back the fire and determination to get back into the career that I love. I would encourage anyone who is lacking self-confidence to take this BodyBlitz challenge. It is one of the best decisions I have made. I would like to thank my wife for training with me and helping us stick to a healthy diet. Diet:

4.30am: Protein shake
6.00am: Bannana and low fat yoghurt
9.30am: Rice cakes with tuna
and avocado
12.00pm: Chicken and veggies
2.30pm: Protein shake and handful of almonds
4.00pm: Gym Session
6pm: Lean beef/fish/chicken veggies/salad
9pm: Weetbix with low fat milk
Workout:

Mon: Upper body + cardio
Tues: Lower body + cardio
Wed: Cardio
Thurs: Upper body + cardio
Fri: Lower body + cardio
Sat: Cardio
Sun: Rest day
